3 Spring Outfits You Already Have in Your Closet
Written by Lindsay Ropella
I’m all about outfit inspiration. I love looking through Pinterest finding different ideas for outfits I can throw together and discover unique ideas for mixing things up a bit. My issue always comes from the fact that I never actually own any of adorable pieces you need to create the outfit.
Lately I’ve been really enjoying using the program Polyvore to put together outfit inspiration boards using clothing pieces I already own. Today I wanted to share with you a few outfits I created using really basic pieces I already have hanging around my closet; pieces that I bet 90% of you have as well.
Spring Outfit Inspiration #1
This first outfit includes three of the most basic pieces wardrobe pieces any gal could own. If you have yet to add any of these to your own wardrobe I would definitely recommend moving them to the top of your shopping list. Take a pair of straight or tapered leg black pants, a plain white tee, and a jean jacket, and you have the base to create about 30 million different looks. Adding a pair of black heels (pointed toe is always my preference) and a statement necklace can take you from ho-hum to high-fashion in 10 seconds or less.
Spring Outfit Inspiration #2
To me, this outfit is the epitome of spring style. I love slightly rolled jeans for cooler summer days, and this coral and turquoise color combo is to die for! If you don’t have aqua/turquoise earrings (drooling over these, by the way), try a contrasting pop of color in a necklace or a stack of bracelets (arm party, anyone?).
Fit Tip: If you are wearing a pair of skinny jeans, try balancing out body proportions by pairing it with a more flowy, blousey top.
Spring Outfit Inspiration #3
This last outfit inspiration is a bit fancier so it would work great for a date or night out with the girls, but I would also totally wear this to the mall or running a few errands. Take any lighter colored summer dress and pair it with some sort of vest. I know we all may not have a jean vest, but any sort of “thrown on over the top” little jacket, shirt, or vest will work. You could very easily pair this dress with a army green casual vest, a chambray shirt left unbuttoned, or even a light leather jacket for cooler days. I’ve been loving white with gold lately, so I loaded this outfit down with the gold accessories.
These outfits are simple, yet I really think they are pieces that work very nicely together and can even be mixed-and-matched between outfits. I tend to like to enjoy styles that are an equal mix classic and trendy.
And if after reading through this post you do find yourself missing (and wanting) some of these basic pieces to add to your collection, I have good news for you! Our favorite online oasis, Shopbop, is having their famous Family & Friends sale. Use the code SPRING25 to receive 25% off your entire order! The sale will end this Friday, April 10 at 3:00 a.m. CST so don’t wait to check it out!
