About the Newlyweds

Hi there! I’m Lindsay, welcome to my blog! I’m so glad you’re taking some time to get to know me, and this blog, just a little bit better! After reading this page, I suggest you start by checking out some of my most popular posts, which can be found in the right sidebar under “Popular Posts.” I’d love for you to connect with me, leave me a comment, or shoot me an email and introduce yourself! Oh, and don’t forget to LIKE the Facebook Page to get real time posting updates, random thoughts, and even some impromptu photo fun! Instagram is also a great place to connect with me and get to know me on a bit more personal level.

The Newlywed Notebook was created in 2012 during the last few weeks of my engagement period as a way to document some last minute wedding planning and the beginning of my new life as a wife. Over the years this blog has transformed quite a bit, and today I view it as a lifestyle blog that chronicles the everyday struggles and triumphs of newlywed life and the lessons learned along the way. This space is dedicated to the girl beginning to journey out on her own, discovering her passions, and finding her place as a partner and a wife. I hope you find this to be a place where you feel inspired and uplifted.

The number one question I seem to always get from new readers is, “what is your favorite blog post you’ve ever written?” So, what is it?  Well, that would have to be Why My Husband is Not “The One.”  I’d love for you to check it out and let me know your thoughts! Again, thank you so much for stopping by! Stick around, there’s always a lot going on at The Newlywed Notebook.

wedding planning blog - newlywed blog - home DIY blogI was born and raised in Wisconsin (no I’ve never owned cows, yes I’m a die hard Packer fan) by two wonderful parents and alongside a younger, annoying but hysterical, brother. When I was just 13, I started dating my now husband, Eric.

After high school, we both decided to attend the University of Minnesota — Twin Cities; he for sports management and me for public relations. After only one short semester, I decided to switch to a Wisconsin college closer to home and pursue a degree in Elementary Education. Eric stayed in Minnesota, but missed me just so much that he transferred to my college a year later (Ok, he switched to be a finance major, but same thing).

On September 5th, 2011, Eric got down on one knee and proposed. I was ecstatic! We decided we wanted to get married right after graduation — and so started the short 11 month countdown to our wedding date. It was a very fun time but very stressful as well. Finishing out my final year of college, all while trying to plan a large wedding in just 11 months was quite the task! I focused on finding and creating things that were unique, but also cost effective (which has since become my motto for all areas of life).

I married my best friend on July 28, 2012. On the day of our wedding, we had been together for almost 10 years! Because of that deep connection, I thought marriage would be a breeze — wow was I wrong! Don’t misunderstand me, I absolutely LOVE being married and wouldn’t change anything for the world! But adjusting to being a wife can be tricky. As we are finally starting to settle into our life as newlyweds, I’m learning a lot about marriage, and about myself.

IMG_7481I started this blog with the intent to share some of my wedding tips and ideas, but it has quickly blossomed into a very diverse blog that includes posts on everything from home DIY and style on a budget, to newlywed life and relationship revelations. I like to think of my blog as a resource for relatable newlywed advice as well as a journal full of personal experiences and funny stories. My hope is that you will find some posts here that encourage you, some that make you think, some that make you realize you’re not alone, and some that just make you laugh!

In the first few years of marriage Eric and I have furnished our first apartment, bought our first house, started a major home remodel, got a puppy, and even learned how to cook a little more and argue a little less! I’m having a blast on this new journey and am so excited to share with you all the fun and interesting things I discover in my new role as a newlywed!
