It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas
Written by Lindsay Ropella
Today I’m sharing some of my Christmas holiday decor because, well…why not? I love looking at how other people have decorated their homes on all my different social media platforms and getting some inspiration for my home for the following years.
Our holiday decor certainly isn’t worthy of the first page of #christmasdecor on Instagram (or the 10th page for the matter), but we really enjoy it and love having that holiday spirit represented in our household. As newlyweds, we can’t (and don’t want to) spend a lot of money on beautiful expensive decor, but we do like to have more unique and pretty pieces. Everything you see here was either gifted, thrifted, or purchased on clearance the week after Christmas from stores like Kirkland’s and Hobby Lobby for less than $3 a piece.
So if you’d like to see what our newlywed home looks like all spruced up for the holidays, then keep on reading!
My wonderful aunt gave me this adorable sign at the end of last Christmas, and so I was so excited to display it front and center this year, right on top of our 3 stockings.
I would like to think our tree looks much better than this in person….but maybe not. This tree was a hand-me-down from my parents the first Christmas Eric and I were married. This used to be their “basement tree” until all the kids were out of the house and they just stuck with the one on the main level. It’s worked well for us for the past 3 years, but we are hoping to find a nice one on Christmas clearance sales this year!
This was an ornament we received on our very first Christmas as newlyweds, and one of my favorites.
I purchased this fun sign at Kirkland’s a few days after Christmas last year. It was originally $10.00 but I was able to scoop it up for just 97 cents! We typically have a picture frame hanging hear the rest of the year, but when the tree goes up it has to come down (it’s kind of massive). Putting this sign on the rogue nail was a perfect fix!
I love having a fireplace to hang our stockings over this year. Last year we just had them hanging on a bookshelf, and that was L-A-M-E. Even if it is fake, I still love the look of it and the warmth for the winter!
This was another crazy Kirkland’s find. I think this sign was priced at $14.99, but I was able to get it for just $2.97 the day after Christmas!
Even our dining room got some holiday love…
So tell me – what is your favorite holiday decoration you own? Does it have any history to it, or is it a new item you are loving on?! Let me know in the comments below!
